Being successful is as unpredictable as failure. We don’t know for certain what’s going to be our hit or miss. Every run with success becomes more obvious in hindsight. And yet to our detriment, we spend so much of our creative energy in an attempt to establish success.
The moment we decide to free ourselves from the pressure of having to win, we become free to try things that we haven’t done before. We can permit ourselves to develop something unique — share an alternative perspective and worldview. Walk an untravelled path.
It’s not just the fear of failure that suppresses our creativity and innovation — it’s the pursuit of the ‘certainty’ that closes off the possibilities. If we were certain about where we’d end up we would never be able to discover how near or far, high or how low we might have gone.
